Fine Line Imports has been working on a way to achieve a cooler air intake charge throughout the rpm band which allows bigger turbos to hold more boost for a longer period of time. This is where you make high horsepower and maintain a flat torque curve. The solution is a front mount intercooler (FMIC). The only down fall to front mount intercoolers are the amount of piping used between the intercooler core and the throttle body. More piping means more area to fill with air which creates turbo lag.
FLI has designed and tested our reversed intake manifold front mount intercooler set up for the 04-07 Subaru STI. Now you can achieve a 200-700rpm quicker response from larger turbos which allows better drive ability for street cars. We have eliminated 3-6 feet of total intercooler piping by reversing the intake manifold so it faces forward. You can still keep your cruise control, air conditioning and factory fog lights. You must have throttle cables for this kit to work. Right now this kit is only available through FLI's custom installation. Some options are heat wrapped pipes, black netting, different color boots and upgraded clamps.
